Our Story

Robert and Fiona Draper started the business in 1973 and from that time have concentrated on offering a personalised removal service tailored to clients’ specific needs. Now with over 50 years’ experience Robert Draper removals feel we can offer the highest quality service utilising some of the most experienced full-time employees in the industry.

The company has been a full member of the British Association of Removers since 1976, the association is the benchmark of the industry and requires us to maintain the highest standards to continue our membership. We must abide by their Code of Practice which gives every potential customer the knowledge that their move is being carried out by a professional company. Moving home is an exciting experience but can also be a daunting one. By entrusting your possessions to a well-established local family company which is large enough to offer a professional service but small enough to be able to cater to each customer’s particular requirements you can be sure of genuine service through the whole process. You will always be one phone call away from the owners of the business who take the responsibility of handling your move personally.

About the BAR

Robert Draper Removals have been a continuous member of the British Association of Removals since 1976. For more than 100 years the British Association of Removers has been providing membership to suitable removal companies in the UK so that the industry has a voice and is continually improved and regulated to meet the changing needs of you the consumer.

More importantly, people that use B.A.R. Members for removals or storage do so in the knowledge that they can expect complete transparency in all their dealings with the Member and will receive a high level of service throughout.

Where B.A.R. Members take money in advance of the move – which is standard industry practice – you are protected by BAR’s Advanced Payment Guarantee. In the rare event that your mover experiences financial difficulties and is unable to carry out your move, that advanced payment will be protected by the BAR. For further peace of mind should a dispute arise with the a BAR mover there is a defined procedure in place to rectify the situation, through the BAR’s FREE and independent Dispute Resolution Service.

Why isn’t my local removal company a member?

BAR membership isn’t for every removal company and isn’t just a pay-as-you-go scheme. To become a BAR Member a removal company must prove that they can meet the high standards of existing Members, otherwise the membership itself becomes devalued and the badge would no longer represent the benchmark for quality that it currently does.

There is set criteria to join and a stringent Code of Practice to adhere to and, understandably not all movers can meet those standards. All our members are audited annually and must meet our Membership criteria and adhere to our Code or else face having their membership terminated. In addition, the performance of BAR Members is uniquely monitored by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) to ensure the Member is operating as they should be, in the interests of their customers.
